Warhammer, Never a Silent Night
I recently had the privilege of composing and producing some music for the SISTERS OF BATTLE faction for Games Workshop’s WARHAMMER brand. I’ve worked closely with Games Workshop for five years now, and every time there are always interesting creative challenges to translate their amazing IP into music. This time it was doing something truly new- working in a brand new language! High Gothic is the language of the futuristic Warhammer 40,000 setting, but up until now Games Workshop had never presented it to the public in an audible form. Let alone anything this textual length before, several pages long…
This is the first ever official Imperial Hymn for Warhammer! And a lot of fun for the fans to release as a Holiday treat for them.
I worked closely with the creative team at Workshop and we sorted out a set of lyrics in High Gothic, which I then adapted to the timing and phrasing for musical performance. I composed and produced the track, recording with an amazing 30 piece women’s choir in Sofia, Bulgaria. I had an amazing team including 7 time Grammy award winning recording and mix engineer Brian Vibberts in Los Angeles, orchestrator Jehan Stefan Legros and his crew in Paris, with technical and choir linguistic assistance from Fabio Amurri in London.
