THE CHAPERONE film released (PBS Masterpiece)

Proud to announce the release of THE CHAPERONE! I composed the original 1920s style songs for this amazing film.

Written, directed &produced by the team from DOWNTON ABBEY, starring Haley Lu Richardson and Elizabeth McGovern (whom I had the privilege of working with at the recording sessions). Released in select theaters across the US, and will be featured on PBS as their first original PBS Masterpiece film.
The Process..
Composing these songs was a unique opportunity and challenge, to dig into the sound of the 1920s and recreate an authentic feel for the era.  I spent about 6 weeks constantly listening to 1920s music and refamiliarizing myself with a lot of material I grew listening to.   I composed about a dozen original pieces for the film, and we recorded them at NRG studios in North Hollywood.
I had an amazing team, including recording & mix engineer Adam Schmidt, music editor Lisa Arpino, and my music supervisor Andy Ross.    We recorded 26 musicians in a variety of band configurations, from small duos to ragtime sextets to full big bands.     Elizabeth McGovern attended the sessions, as well as producer Victoria Hill and it a pleasure spending the day with them in the studio.  It was an incredibly fun recording date, good spirits all around!
